Basis Policy Research (Basis) seeks a full-time Research Analyst for our Grand Rapids, MI office. Basis is an applied research firm focused on education, workforce development, child welfare, and housing. We partner with government agencies, foundations, and nonprofits to evaluate programs, design interventions, analyze policy, and build advanced data solutions.


We are looking for a motivated, detail-oriented analyst to contribute across multiple projects. The ideal candidate has training in statistics; experience managing and analyzing large datasets; and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Fluency with modern AI for data management, analysis, and visualization is a plus; curiosity to learn fast is essential.


The Research Analyst will support all stages of the research process—engaging with clients, designing studies, collecting and analyzing data, drafting reports, and presenting results. This role is a great fit for recent graduates and early-career professionals who love challenges and share our passion for improving lives through better policies and practices.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in public policy, political science, economics, statistics, data science, education, or other related fields
  • Research experience through prior coursework, internships, or employment


Experience

  • Strong statistical and data management coding and programming skills (Stata, R, Python)
  • Coursework and/or training in statistics, quantitative research, and mixed methods research
